You will take part in a group discussion relating to knowledge of local radio.
1.2 Demonstrate knowledge of the history of Bolt FM
You will take part in a group discussion relating to radio broadcasting and the history of Bolt FM. You will be provided with an overview of what Bolt FM is including a brief history of the programme.
1.3 Participate in a basic Ice Breaker role play with the use of hand held voice recorders
You will participate in an ice breaker, learning how to use hand held voice recorders to interview classmates in small groups. When your instructor has signed your checklist, take a picture of and upload it.

Understand radio broadcasting content and how to apply Script Writing
2.1 Compare two radio shows and explain the differences in content/topics.
2.2 Outline a storyboard topic suitable for radio presenting in accordance with a given brief
2.3 Plan the storyboard script including a playlist to a given timeframe
2.1 Compare two radio shows and explain the differences in content/topics.
You will participate in a group work exercise and be asked to compare two radio clips to understand why radio shows use different techniques, tone, sounds and content discussions. You will also discuss targeted audiences, format and broadcast time.
You will then use Flip chart –post-it notes to evidence your understanding of the differences within radio broadcasting. Take picture of your notes and upload to the assignment below.
2.2 Outline a storyboard topic suitable for radio presenting in accordance with a given brief
Example Brief: Using a script format or a storyboard template provided, plan for a 6 minute radio segment using a guest who will phone-in to your show. You may choose any guest real or imagined and can pick any subject or format in accordance with your taste.
The segment must have a written introduction and outro and contain a minimum of three other presenter questions/statements to show an adequate level of planning to steer the interview.
2.3 Plan the storyboard script including a playlist to a given timeframe
Plan for a 30 minute broadcast, of which a minimum of 5 minutes must be spoken word content. Playlist should contain the exact running time of the songs selected, as well as guides for how long each spoken word segment has been allocated. Scripts do not have to be written verbatim and are to work as guides for the presenter.
Upload your script/storyboard with the timing of each item clearly denoted.

Build a basic mobile radio studio

You will take part in a practical exercise, providing a detailed explanation of equipment required to operate a small radio station setup. You will have the opportunity to explore equipment by touch/sight and ask questions relating to its use.
3.2 Working in a small team assemble a radio studio and open relevant software to prepare for a broadcast
You will work in small groups to assemble the radio station under the observation of the instructor.
Your evidence will include annotated pictures of the candidate building the radio station and instructor comments/confirmation.
Outcome 4
Create radio programme content for production
4.1 Demonstrate a basic understanding of radio software including how to create a playlist, add jingles and record

You will work in groups under supervision, to show an understanding of radio software. You will demonstrate skills and knowledge in how to create a playlist on the computer, add a pre-recorded jingle and use the record function. When your instructor has signed your checklist, take a picture of and upload it.
4.2 Create a basic radio show consisting of music playlist, jingles and speech
You will use your pre-planned script/storyboard (completed in outcome 2) and skills and knowledge gained in outcome 3 to create a basic radio show consisting of music playlist, jingles and speech.
4.3 Record the radio show and demonstrate how to carry out at least one edit - post production
The instructor will work with you to support the development of skills in recording the radio show and performing one edit using the software.
4.4 Evaluate the learning experience
Lastly complete the following evaluation exercise to provide feedback to the instructor.
